Honorable P.B. Simpson attorney at law, Shullsburg born Oct. 13, 1820 in Ashtabula Co. Ohio. At age 21 he commenced reading law with Beecher & Cook at Sandusky Ohio and was admitted to the bar in 1843. He came to Shullsburg in July 4 1847. He held various positions at the city , county and state level including :Chairman of Town of Shullsburg, District Attorney for the County, State Senator (two terms) and was a candidate for the Federal Congress. He married Mary A. Beard of Maryland and they had one son, Jefferson B. who graduated from Wisconsin State University and studied law with his father ( taken from 1881 History of Lafayette Co.).
